Tennis for anybody?

This morning I was delighted to accept the Disability Tennis Programme of the Year Award from Tennis Lancashire on behalf of all the team at Liverpool Tennis Centre.

Over the past twelve months, the coaches and staff have worked very hard to provide more opportunities for disabled people to play tennis in Liverpool, including Wheelchair Tennis, Visually Impaired Tennis and our Downs Syndrome Association Mini Tennis session.  Tennis is an inclusive, adaptive, life-long, family sport and we have started on our journey to turn this into a reality in Liverpool.

I would like to thank all the partners we have worked with as well, including the Tennis Foundation, Liverpool City Council, VISPA and the Greenbank Sports Academy.  It has been a real team effort from all our staff and we have also been supported by our friends Tony Knappett and George Ferguson.  We now progress to the regional stage of the British Tennis Awards against other winners from the North of England.

We now want to continue getting more disabled people playing tennis at our venue and we are looking forward to 2017 already!
